Ancient Corinth
Our proposal for a new residence in Ancient Corinth does not concern a monolithic building to be judged normatively, with references to its historical, natural and residential environment. Instead, the design proposes an archetypal "L"-shaped assembly of two building volumes They have a dialectical relationship between them that definds the courtyard of the house both geometrically and conceptually. The courtyard opens to the South from where the sun and the view towards Acrokorinthos.
Furthermore, the careful diversity of the two volumes of the residence stands opposed to the indiscriminate pictorial perception of tradition but, instead, uses tradition as an active force in the design of sensitive landscapes. Despite the subtle differences between the two parts of the architectural composition are harmoniously composed as a unity at the courtyard, this container of outdoor life and temporal transformer where a modern man can inhabit this ancient place within a contemporary continuum.
